Before purchasing, check that your bike has a 5th generation Bosch Smart motor, a rim magnet, and a software version supported by Speedbox (see compatibility photo). Speedbox is not compatible with bikes equipped with ABS!
Speedbox 1.6 allows you to disable the speed limit on electric bikes with the Bosch Smart System and 5th generation Bosch Performance Line CX motors.

How to enable/disable Speedbox 1.6 for Bosch?
To activate Speedbox 1.6, you need to activate the WALK assist function (by holding down the “-” button). The bike display will show 3.5 km/h (2.2 mph) and from that moment on, your electric bike will assist you up to 35 km/h. You can change the default speed limit to any value (up to 99 km/h), but to minimize the risk of error codes, we recommend not exceeding 35 km/h.
To disable tuning, reactivate the WALK assist function (by holding down the “-” button). The bike display will show 2.5 km/h (1.6 mph), resetting the speed limit to the default 25 km/h.
On electric bikes without WALK assist, you can turn tuning on/off with the button combination – + – +.
The maximum speed can be set by switching modes three levels down from TURBO mode and then three levels up: eMTB – TOUR+ – ECO – TOUR+ – eMTB – TURBO. The actual maximum speed will then be displayed. The maximum speed of the electric assist can be changed by briefly activating the WALK assist function or by turning the rear wheel 360°. A value of 2.5 km/h on the display corresponds to a limit of 25 km/h, 3.0 corresponds to 30 km/h, 3.5 corresponds to 35 km/h, etc. The last limit displayed will be saved after 15 seconds of inactivity.
After finishing your ride, leave the bike switched on until the display shows 0.0 km/h. During this process, the remaining time will be displayed. You can then safely switch off the bike. Do not remove the display to lock the electric bike until SpeedBox has completed the “countdown” process.
Installation
SpeedBox uses original connectors, making the installation process very simple and ensuring that SpeedBox is connected correctly. The manufacturer has prepared instructions and a video to help you with the installation. Removing SpeedBox is just as easy. If you have any problems with installation or removal, please do not hesitate to contact us.
When installing Speedbox 1.6 Bosch Smart System on a new electric bike, ride at least 10 km before installing Speedbox.
Information, warnings, and recommendations
- In most European countries Speedbox cannot be used on public roads.
- It is recommended to disable automatic updates in the eBike Flow App, as updates may cause Speedbox to malfunction.
- Please note that the SpeedBox warranty does not cover faults caused by motor updates.
- In case of a short stop, to continue riding smoothly, we recommend leaving one foot on the pedal so that the countdown does not start.
- In case of a longer stop, wait until at least part of the countdown has elapsed.
- After a long ride, the countdown may take several minutes.
- Do not remove the display if the countdown has not been completed.
- Activation/deactivation of the tuning should be done before riding (when the e-bike is stationary) and not while riding.
- Do not exceed a speed of 35 km/h to ensure proper operation and minimize the risk of errors.
