Speedbox 1.1 for Bosch Smart System E-Bike

The Bosch Smart System motor update (software version 11.13.0) causes incompatibility with SpeedBox products for Bosch ordered before May 2024.

How does SpeedBox 1.1 for Bosch work?

To activate all SpeedBox functions correctly, after turning on your electric bike, go to the menu and navigate to the wheel circumference information of your electric bike.

You can activate it on your e-bike screen. Do not activate it while riding! After activation, the WALK function will briefly display a speed of 3.5 km/h (2.2 mph). From that point, you can ride at 35 km/h. You can change the default speed limit to any value (up to 99 km/h), but to minimize the risk of error codes, we recommend not exceeding 35 km/h.

After reactivating the WALK function, tuning will turn off. Do not deactivate it while riding! The screen will show a speed of 2.5 km/h (1.6 mph), and the 25 km/h speed limit will be active again. The e-bike will function the same as before SpeedBox tuning was installed.

If your e-bike doesn’t have the WALK function, you can activate it using the – + – + buttons. The same method is used to deactivate SpeedBox.

To set the maximum speed limit, switch between modes by going down three levels from TURBO mode and then back up three levels: eMTB – TOUR+ – ECO – TOUR+ – eMTB – TURBO. After doing this, the current speed limit will appear on the screen. You can adjust the maximum speed by briefly activating/deactivating the WALK function or spinning the wheel 360°. A speed of 2.5 km/h corresponds to a 25 km/h limit, 3.0 corresponds to 30 km/h, 3.5 corresponds to 35 km/h, and so on. The last displayed limit will be saved after 15 seconds.

If you use SpeedBox, after finishing your ride, leave the bike turned on until the display shows a speed of 0.0 km/h. During this phase, the countdown will appear on the screen. Afterward, you can safely turn off the bike and enjoy your upcoming ride.

Installation

Installing SpeedBox tuning on your e-bike is simple thanks to color-coded plugs with a key, making the installation process really easy. We also provide instructions and tutorial videos so that every customer can install the tuning on their own. If you encounter any issues, you can always reach out to us for help.

If you’re preparing to install SpeedBox on a brand new bike, make sure you’ve ridden at least 10 kilometers before activating the tuning.

Important

Connect the male-female plugs in the direction of the lock. Do not twist the connectors while connecting!

We warn that using tuned bikes may not comply with the law in your country. The manufacturer is not responsible for damages resulting from the use of the SpeedBox product. Electric bikes with SpeedBox tuning cannot be used on public roads or bike paths. Electric bikes with SpeedBox tuning can only be used on private property and at your own risk. Installing the SpeedBox product may void the electric bike’s warranty.

• We suggest using other safety products to protect against injury.
• For short stops, to continue riding smoothly, we recommend keeping one foot on the pedal to prevent the countdown from starting.
• For longer breaks, allow the countdown to proceed partially.
• After a long ride, the countdown may take a few minutes.
• Do not remove the display until the countdown is complete.
• Tuning should always be activated/deactivated before riding, not during riding.
• We recommend not exceeding speeds of 35 km/h.
• We recommend not updating your e-bike software to avoid tuning detection.
• Please disable automatic updates in the Ebike Flow App settings.
• Note that the SpeedBox warranty does not cover product malfunctions caused by motor updates.
